First Baptist Church of Commerce is an autonomous body of baptized believers united in Jesus Christ, operating through democratic processes under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  As such, all members are equally responsible for carrying out the five purposes of the church.    We have assembled together in Worship and Fellowship, for the purpose of Discipling, Ministering and Evangelizing all mankind.  These five purposes are summarized in Acts 2:42-47.

• Worship:  We Were Planned for God's Pleasure.   Worship is first and foremost a reverent devotion and pledge of allegiance to God.  New Testament worship is characterized by joy and thanksgiving because of God's gracious redemption in Christ.  Christian worship focuses on God's saving work in Jesus Christ and occurs under the inspiration of God's Spirit.  Following the pattern of the New Testament, our worship will include Prayer, Praise, Singing, Bible Reading, Offerings, Bible Preaching, and an Invitation to receive and follow Christ.  (Acts 2:46).
• Fellowship:  We Were Formed for God's Family.  As a local body of baptized believers we are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the two ordinances which Christ gave to His Church, committed to His teachings, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in us by His Word, and seeking to extend the Gospel to the ends of the earth.  (Acts 2:42).
• Discipleship:  We Were Created to Become Like Christ.
• Ministry:  We Were Shaped for Serving God.  Therefore, we will minister to the total needs of all people so they may experience God's love.  (Acts 2:45).
• Evangelism:  We Were Made for a Mission.  Our primary mission is to share the Gospel with all people so they may know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  (Acts 2:47).

In summary, we are a Family of Faith on Mission with God.  We invite you to join us for the Journey.  Our main building is located at 109 North Cherry in Commerce.  (One block East and one block north of the City Water Tower.)
